What happens when you connect Strava

Most runners have months or years of run data sitting in Strava doing nothing beyond showing a map and a pace. PacecraftAI connects to that data and uses it as the foundation for genuinely personalised coaching.

When you authorise the Strava connection, PacecraftAI imports your recent run history, calculates your current fitness baseline, and builds your training plan and coaching responses around what you've actually been doing — not a generic starting point.

How the Strava sync works

Step 1
Authorise in one click
Connect via Strava OAuth — PacecraftAI never sees your password. Read-only access to your activity data.
Step 2
Historical runs imported
Your recent run history is pulled in automatically to seed your fitness baseline and training load calculations.
Step 3
New runs sync automatically
Every new Strava activity triggers a real-time webhook. Your coaching plan updates without you logging anything manually.
Step 4
AI coaching after every run
After a Strava sync, PacecraftAI sends you an AI-generated coaching message analysing the run and updating your plan.

What PacecraftAI does with your Strava data

Training load analysis
Calculates ATL, CTL, and TSB — the same metrics used by elite coaches — from your actual Strava runs to monitor fitness vs fatigue.
ACWR injury risk scoring
Acute:Chronic Workload Ratio tracked automatically. Flagged when your mileage spikes into high-risk territory.
Pace zone calibration
Your personalised easy, tempo, and threshold paces updated based on recent race-pace efforts from Strava.
Weather-adjusted analysis
Run pace contextualised by temperature and humidity — your 5:30/km in 30°C heat is treated differently to 5°C.
Post-run RPE check-in
After each Strava sync, PacecraftAI asks how the run felt (Easy/Hard/Max) and saves your perceived effort alongside the data.
Weekly training summary
Automated weekly reflection sent to you with volume, load trend, key workout highlights, and next-week focus.
Plan auto-adjustment
If your Strava data shows you ran more or less than planned, next week's schedule adjusts automatically.
Race countdown prep
In the week before a goal race, PacecraftAI uses your recent Strava data to give you personalised taper and pacing guidance.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Strava integration free?

Strava auto-sync is a Pro feature ($6/month). The free plan lets you log runs manually and still get full AI coaching. Pro unlocks automatic Strava sync, unlimited coaching messages, and advanced training load analysis.

What Strava data does PacecraftAI access?

PacecraftAI requests read-only access to your activities — distance, pace, heart rate (if available), and GPS route data. It never reads your private messages, followers, or payment information. You can revoke access at any time from your Strava settings.

Does it work with Garmin, Apple Watch, or Wahoo?

If your device syncs to Strava (which Garmin, Apple Watch, Wahoo, Polar, Suunto, and most others do), PacecraftAI will pick up those runs automatically through the Strava connection.

What if I already have months of Strava data?

PacecraftAI imports your recent run history on first connect to build an accurate fitness baseline. The more data you have, the more accurate the initial training load and pace zone calculations will be.

Can I use PacecraftAI without Strava?

Yes — you can log runs manually via the chat interface and still get full AI coaching, training plans, and injury risk monitoring. Strava sync just removes the manual step and adds real-time post-run analysis.
